Parent Education Workshops
Friends of Children of Walla Walla, in partnership with Blue Mountain Action Council (BMAC) and local banks, is providing workshops to parents of children who are enrolled in or on the waiting list for the Friends mentoring program.
Friends will offer 10 workshops throughout the coming year that will focus on providing parents with financial and local community information and resources. Each workshop will be approximately two hours, and friends will provide transportation, light refreshments, and childcare for participants.
The Parent Education Workshops are made possible by a grant through the Community Reinvestment Act and offer a great opportunity for parents to hear local guest speakers, acquire some valuable tips on financial topics, and learn more about available resources for individuals and families in the community. Topics may include credit restoration, budgeting, buying a home, and more. Local organizations such as the YMCA,
Curriculum materials will be free of cost to participants, and cash incentives have been donated by Banner Bank for those who attend all 10 workshops.
